Waterproofing
If tiles are to be used outside or in a very wet location such as a shower it is recommended that they be treated with a silicone sealant at the time of manufacture, failure to do so may result in discoloration. This service has a charge of 35p per unit and should be specified at time of ordering. We cannot guarantee against frost damages.
Crazing and Shading
Shading and variations in size are inherent characteristics of all handmade wall and floor tiles; therefore before fixing it is essential to lay them out in good light, to ensure an acceptable blend of colour and size. If glazed these tiles may craze with time; therefore in this respect no guarantees can be given. In common with Victorian originals and other reproductions, highly glazed dark colours with a high oxide content such as laurel green, can sometimes develop a metallic sheen or stain after contact with water, detergents, acids or alkalis (including but not limited to, lemon juice, shampoo and some cleaning products). These colours should not be used in areas where contact with such substances may occur.
Metallic Print
Due to the precious metal content of these printed tiles, great care should be taken whilst cleaning (see below). Care is also required during installation to prevent scratching of the tiles particularly when grouting.
Cleaning
Tiled surfaces should be washed down using either clean water or a nonabrasive, neutral (i.e. not acidic or alkaline) detergent. Dry off and polish with a clean dry cloth.
